The 4-H program helps young people develop the life skills needed to become capable, responsible and caring citizens. Through local 4-H clubs, special interest groups, after-school programs, camps and many other activities, 4-H'ers have fun, make lasting friendships, enjoy "hands-*on learning experiences and get involved in their communities.

4-H After-School

The 4-H After-School Club is designed to allow youth not in the county school system to participate in 4-H. During club meetings 4-H'ers learn vital life skills such as responsible citizenship, positive self esteem, ethical decision making, building relationships, healthy lifestyle choices, team work, achieving goals, responsibility and leadership. Each month youth also compete in various contests, such as public speaking, poster making, model building, art, t-shirt design and photography. This club is open to any student grades 3-8 regardless of gender, religious preference or race.

4-H at the Library

Each month the UT Obion County 4-H Program and the Obion County Public Library team up and provide workshops for children grades K-4. These workshops provide participants with vital life skills such as independence, self-esteem, how to work well with others and the ability to think creatively. Workshop themes are seasonal and include Kids in the Garden and Kids in the Kitchen as well as general craft sessions. Dates for each workshop are posted in the Union City Messenger.
