2008 County Wide 4-H Public Speaking Contest

The annual Obion County 4-H Public Speaking Contest was recently held at Ridgemont Elementary School. There were 76 competitors in all, grades 4-8. Students placing first received gift certificates donated by Snappy Tomato Pizza. 2nd place winners were awarded movie gift cards donated from Movie Gallery or Family Video. 3rd place winners received gift cards donated by Wendy’s. Students placing first in the 5th- 8th grade divisions will have the opportunity to compete at the Sub-regional 4-H Public Speaking Contest in March.
In the 4th grade division, 1st place: Marlee Wicker of Lake Road. She is the daughter of Brennan and Melinda Wicker of Union City. 2nd place: Jennan Dial of Hillcrest. Jennan is the daughter of Charles and Crystal Meade and Greg Dial. 3rd place: Bryleigh Jennings of Lake Road. She is the daughter of Heather Riley and Jason Jennings.
In the 5th grade division, 1st place: Abby Bell of South Fulton. Abby is the daughter of Tonya Rushing and Mark Bell. 2nd place: Colton Easterwood of Hillcrest. He is the son of David and Lisa Easterwood of Troy. 3rd place: Keaton Cooper of Ridgemont. Keaton is the daughter of Chris and Melinda Cooper of Kenton.
In the 6th grade division, 1st place: Jiten Dave of South Fulton. Jiten is the son of Devanand and Arti Dave of South Fulton. 2nd place: Peyton Baggett of Lake Road. She is the daughter of Russ and Melanie Baggett of Union City. 3rd place: Harrison Fry of South Fulton. Harrison is the son of John and Cathy Fry of South Fulton.
In the 7th grade division, 1st place: Shelly Pate of Ridgemont. She is the daughter of Neill and Melissa Pate of Rives. 2nd place: Chandler Fussell of Hillcrest Elementary. He is the son of Fritz and Dana Fussell of Troy. 3rd place: Laina Roberson of Hillcrest. Laina is the daughter of Guy and Cathy Roberson of Troy.
In the 8th grade division, 1st place: Chloe Smith of Lake Road. She is the daughter of Christine Hunt and Gary Smithson. 2nd place: Jessy Allen of Lake Road. Jessy is the daughter of Jimmie and Missie Huff of Union City. 3rd place: Mallori Conley of Hillcrest. Mallori is the daughter of Patricia and Robert Conley of Union City.
